 GIANNI VANCHERI

 Guitarist, composer, arranger

 

Born in a favorable environment for music, he started playing the guitar at the age of 12 with an interest for rock and then jazz music.

 

He graduated in Jazz Music at the Conservatorio "N. Piccinni" of Bari with honors and praise, and he attended numerous master classes including some held by Rachel Z, Gianluigi Trovesi, John Taylor, Andrea Centazzo and international courses of Siena Jazz Foundation in arrangement and composition (with scholarship) with professors B. Tommaso, G. Gazzani, G. Schiaffini and an advanced course in Chieti with american flautist James Newton and B. Tommaso.

 

He took part in several music festivals organized by municipalities and authorities (Camerata Musical Bari, Talos Festival Ruvo, Gezziamoci Onyx Jazz Club Matera etc.).

 

Among the various collaborations: (2004) guest of the American trio of keyboardist Rachel Z at Bari and Rome - (2011) Roberto Ottaviano Multidimensional - Matera (2013) Milestones Music Festival with Achille Succi and V. Merkouris - (2013) City of Tito (Pz) with saxophonist Michael Rosen - (2014) Bari, Andrea Centazzo Invisible Orchestra.

 

His interests range from jazz, contemporary music, electronics, ethnic music to the study of ethnic instruments like the arabic oud and greek bouzouki.

 

He graduated in Civil Engineering with honors from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Bari, and he worked for a certain period as an engineer.

 

Currently, in addition to the musical career, he is a Physics teacher.

 

He lives in Bari, Italy.
